Call for Research Posters (2008 EPA Convention)
November 15, 2008 is the deadline for poster submissions to the annual conference of the Eastern Psychological Association (EPA), which will be held March 5-9, 2009, at the Westin Convention Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
As with last year, instead of having all of the Psi Chi posters presented together, they will instead be presented as part of the poster sessions organized by topic. This way, your poster will be viewed with all the other ones at EPA within your research area. All poster submissions first authored by a Psi Chi member are eligible for a Psi Chi Regional Research Award consisting of a certificate and check for $300!
All submissions must be completed online via the EPA website. When you click on the link to submit your proposal, you will be asked for your EPA membership login information. [See the complete description of the proposal process below]. If you are not a member, you will be asked to join either as a member (for faculty) or as an affiliate (for students). Psi Chi expects to have a terrific program of panels, workshops, and speakers.
Keep checking the Psi Chi website for updates on the EPA program details.

Instructions for submitting a poster to EPA
For students wishing to submit a poster as part of the Psi Chi program to EPA:
Go to the EPA's website.
You must join the EPA as an Associate Member in order to submit a poster proposal and attend the EPA convention. To do this, click the "Join EPA" tab in the left column and follow instructions to join and pay online. All members of EPA can register for the EPA convention for free.
ONCE YOU ARE A MEMBER OF EPA: Log into the website with the User ID and Password provided once you join.
Click the "Members Only" tab in the left margin.
Then click the "Associate Proposals" tab in the left margin. Complete all information requested. It is best if you have your full proposal ready before you begin to fill this page in, including the title of your poster, the names and college (or other professional) affiliations of each author, a 75-word short abstract of your proposal, and a longer summary of your proposal that is no longer than 1000 words (do not include your list of References in this word count).
BE SURE TO CHECK THE BOX INDICATING THAT YOU ARE A PSI CHI MEMBER--THIS COMES TOWARD THE END OF THE SUBMISSION AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SAME PAGE THAT YOU INSERT YOUR ABSTRACTS.
NOTE THAT, AS WITH PREVIOUS YEARS, PSI CHI POSTERS WILL BE PRESENTED DURING THE SAME THEMED SESSIONS AS ALL OTHER POSTERS (e.g., if your topic is in Social Psychology, it will be presented with the other Social Psychology posters; Clinical topics will all be presented together, etc.). We have found that this brings a much better attendance to your poster. Nevertheless, first authors of posters who are members of Psi Chi will all be considered for the $300 Research award, to be given out during the Psi Chi Awards reception. The specific date and time for this reception will be posted once the final EPA program is made available, likely in early February.
Please contact Prof. Jason Young, Eastern Region Vice-President of Psi Chi, if you have any questions about this process.
